No one ever wants to share the thought and reality of a soul transitioning on to their eternal peace. And no one ever wants to forget to celebrate the unique light that soul was and what they gave to the world. We here at Woman To Woman Talk want to take a little space and time to celebrate two extraordinary Black women that made an indelible mark on this world and recently left us entirely too soon: attorney & CNN/MSNBC legal analyst Midwin Charles and The Butter Bar Skincare founder and CEO Kimberly Chloe Wilson. Both women were positive forces in the industries that they were called to. Both women used their time here on Earth well and created a beautiful legacy that so many people will continue to benefit from for years to come. Our thoughts, prayers, and sincere condolences go out to the Charles and Wilson families, and to the many friends, coworkers, clients, customers, and anyone who was inspired by the sheer magnificence of who they were. Midwin and Kimberly we thank you for contribution to the world and for living a life that inspired many Black women and women of color that who we are and the gifts that we have within us are not just enough but essential and incredible. May you both rest in power, peace, love, and beauty.
Midwin Charles
July 17, 1973-April 6, 2021
A Brooklyn native and born to Haitian imigrants, Midwin was a proud first generation American citizen who was not shy or quiet about the strength and necessity of immigrants to the US. Midwin received her bachelors degree from Syracuse University and went on to earn her law degree from American Univeristy. The success of opening her own law firm, Midwin Charles & Associates LLC, would lead Midwin to be a research fellow at Harvard Law School and a regular legal commentator for Essence Magazine, The Wendy Williams Show, CNN, and MSNBC. Towards the end of her life many more would come to love and respect Midwin as as regular legal analyst on MSNBC. Sadly Midwin suddenly passed away about six days ago confirmed by a post from her family on her Instagram page. Although many respected and loved her as a friend and colleague Midwin’s family acknowledged their statement “to us she was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and cousin. Our lives are forever changed and we will miss her for a lifetime.”
Kimberly Chloe Wilson
September 18, 1987-April 10, 2021
Self proclaimed hyperpigmentation specialist, Kimberly thrived on making Black women feel their absolute best and realize there is not only hope but a solution that works. What was once a personal quest and natural ingredient obsession turned into The Butter Bar Skincare. Not only was a skincare line formed but a spa with locations in Houston and Atlanta, that uses handcrafted ingredients from the line. Handcrafting skincare wasn’t Kimberly’s only speciality or mission. Kimberly was also certain to educate people on the importance of healthy skincare and the healing properties for the whole body. Sadly Kimberly recently started facing some health setbacks that included suffering two strokes in March. Although she suffered the strokes and was unable to be near her family, the goal of fighting for her life and returning home to her husband and four children was paramount. Sadly this weekend Kimberly earned her wings and entered into a well deserved eternal rest. Kimberly leaves a lifetime of love and memories with her husband and co-founder Rasheem Wilson, their children, and many family and friends who loved her deeply.
