“AT EVERY STEP OF THE WAY, I’VE BEEN GUIDED BY THE WORDS I SPOKE FROM THE FIRST TIME I STOOD IN A COURTROOM: KAMALA HARRIS, FOR THE PEOPLE.” Kamala Harris August 19, 2020.

Vice President Kamala Harris accepted President Joe Biden’s invitation to become his running mate and help unite the nation on August 11, 2020. She is the first woman, the first Black American, and the first South Asian American to be elected Vice President, as was the case with other offices she has held. She is, however, determined not to be the last. Vice President Harris has been married to Douglas Emhoff since 2014. The couple have a large blended family that includes their children, Ella and Cole.
Kamala Harris was elected Vice President after a lifetime of public service, having been elected District Attorney of San Francisco, California Attorney General, and United States Senator. She was born in Oakland, California to parents who emigrated from India and Jamaica. Vice President Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of Law. Initiated into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Alpha Chapter on the campus of Howard University, Vice President Harris became a trailblazer in service far before her political career took flight.
Michelle Obama made a valuable point with her understanding that for true change to occur women deserved more seats at the table. “No country can ever truly flourish if it stifles the potential of its women and deprives itself of the contributions of half its citizens.” Through the ebbs and flows that come with holding the office of Vice President of the United States of America, Vice President Harris has carried herself with unwavering professionalism and grace. It has been reported that Vice President Harris has one of the lowest approval ratings in history, however it has not swayed her focus or commitment to fulfilling her promise to work for the people.
“Vice presidents always face chatter about their role and their relevance,” host George Stephanopoulos asked Harris in an interview with Good Morning America. “You’re no exception to that … What do you say to your friends who are frustrated?” Harris replied, “This was a good week, and this week, when we got this Bipartisan Infrastructure Act passed and signed by the president, makes a statement about all of the hard work that has gone into it, month after month after month.”
“So, you don’t feel misused or underused?” Stephanopoulos asked Harris in a follow up. “No,” Harris said. “I don’t. I’m very, very excited about the work that we have accomplished. But I am also absolutely clear-eyed that there is a lot more to do, and we’re gonna get it done.”

In a tweet Friday evening, Vice President Harris commented regarding the Rittenhouse verdict. “Today’s verdict speaks for itself. I’ve spent a majority of my career working to make our criminal justice system more equitable. It’s clear, there’s still a lot more work to do.”
We agree, there is so much more work still to be done! Women are Speaking … Thank you Vice President Kamala Harris for your service to the American people and dedication to leading by example.
