Mahogany Atmosphere Analogy; The BMB Team & Client Meet & Greet Recap

In the 70’s movie Mahogany, starring Diana Ross and Billy Dee Williams, there are lyrics to a song entitled, “Do you know where you’re going to?”

And the chorus goes like this:

“Do you know where you’re going to?

Do you like the things that life is showing you?

Where are you going to?

Do you know?”

Songwriters: Gerry Goffin / Michael Masse Do You Know Where You’re Going To (Theme from “Mahogany”) lyrics © Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC

The song goes on to express the regret and emotions of a WOC who clearly made wrong decisions and almost lost the love of her life, some would suggest. But at least she took the chance at living her dreams and fulfilling goals to know that she made the wrong decision.

Shall we wonder though, if Mohagany was connected to the wrong atmosphere? Being connected to the wrong atmosphere generates a temporary atmosphere of success. It can make one lose sight of the original intent of their dreams and goals, as well as disconnect one from their power relationships and sources of love, like family.

When we are connected to the right atmosphere, anything becomes possible because of the generating power connections that keep her focused on her dreams and goals, no matter what.

Recently, W2WT experienced the power of being connected to the right atmosphere at the BMB Team & Client Meet & Greet in Atlanta, Georgia.

In the movie, the WOC didn’t have powerful WOC connections and her significant other, Brian was supportive but didn’t actually connect with her plight of being a model/ designer like she needed.

But the women in Atlanta were supportive and connected to each other on every level by simply sharing who they are and what they do.

First, Mrs. Brittany Miller chose to celebrate her Birthday with The Team, which was an honor. Secondly, the venue was elegant and decorated with warm colors and large glass walls that reflected the beauty in the room. Thirdly, Beautiful Boss Bad Queens and Kings from various places showed up to celebrate, network, support and most of all to shine by mingling and getting to know each other. It was a total positive experience that made one feel like success was the only option.

Finally, W2WT experienced the taping of a Documentary about Mrs. Miller, and BMB life and journey behind the scenes. This woman has achieved so much at such a young age.

As the camera rolled, Mrs. Miller’s family was interviewed beginning with her supportive and connected husband, Travis Miller, who was helpful and interacted with the women and men as they arrived. He also was knowledgeable about the ins and outs of what Brittany does on a daily basis along with being a devoted father and a protective, loving husband. It was amazing to see the couple shine together.

The only way you didn’t see the adorable princesses that were Brittany’s daughters, was because you weren’t there to watch them imitate their Mother while being supported and loved on by their Father. — As these proud parents watched them shine on camera, W2WT could see the love, dreams and expectations that they have for their children.

The Princesses shared their experiences living and working with Mommy. They also have followed their Mother’s pioneering skills by starting their own businesses through Miller Kids Model.

W2WT enjoyed being exposed to all that Ms. Brittany does on a daily basis. Especially her overall genuine love and desire for making people better by exploring opportunities that makes her clients more marketable by applying her Boss Business Minded skills along with the support and hard work of The Brittany Miller Brand Team.

Now let’s talk about this Team. W2WT experienced a Team of hardworking, beautiful, smart women who knew what they were doing, how to execute, and genuinely cared about each other and the guests. We could tell that their business relationships had saturated their friendships or vice versa, and created an atmosphere of change, empowerment, love, success, and most of all, getting the job done.

In the movie, Mahogany didn’t have a team or a stable relationship because her man Brian didn’t connect with her vision. He saw she was connected to the wrong atmosphere but because he wasn’t connected to her vision enough to lead her into the positive atmosphere that she needed to thrive; and her success was temporary.

So often when People Of Color are represented in the movies, we rarely have positive, successful outcomes. And hardly are we ever portrayed as being successful and happy doing what we love in stable marriages with our children imitating our success.  Of course life has its ups and downs but to experience in the real world a successful family orientated business with successful children, along with a great team is rare and needs to be celebrated.

As we heard the music playing at the event, we could hear the theme music playing from the movie Mahogany as she witnessed the rewrite and Boss Bad adaptation to the famous line by Billy Dee Williams from the movie:

“Let me tell you something, and don’t you ever forget it: that success is nothing without someone you love to share it.”

Billie Dee Williams

With that being said, we appreciate the Brittany Miller Brand Team, Family, W2WT Team, and All who are connected.

Success is when you have everything you need in the right atmosphere”

Do you know where you’re going to?

Do you like the things that life is showing you?

Where are we going to?

Do you know?
