After almost two decades, The Ellen DeGeneres Show will be ending in 2022. As the saying goes, “all good things must come to an end, “and the Ellen DeGeneres Show, love it or hate it has done some very good things. From making dreams come true, show casing viral social media talent, and bringing attention to human right issues over the years, Ellen became a household name and some might argue an American Sweetheart. With her quirky personality and notorious dance moves, what was not to love about Ellen? Fast forward to early last year, when accusations of a toxic work environment led to the firing of three senior producers on the show, Ellen took to her show to make an on-air apology. However, more and more stories started coming out about the treatment of employees, and certain guests. YouTube make-up guru Nikkie Tutorials went on Ellen’s show to discuss her coming out as a transgender woman, spoke on how she was personally mistreated by Ellen. According to Insider, she described Ellen as being cold and distant towards and not being allowed to use a certain bathroom reserved for the Jonas Brothers. Many stars have backed Ellen when these allegations began to come out but ratings for the show had begun to fall long before the allegations. Ellen is not new to controversy, back in 1998, Ellen come out to the world as a lesbian via her TV show of the same name. During that time, being a part of the LGBTQ community was very much stigmatized. So much so, that Birmingham, Alabama refused to allow the episode to air locally. Soon after, they show was cancelled but Ellen bounced back in 2003 with the launch of her talk show.

Tiffany Haddish, the comedy sensation and breakout star from GirlsTrip, filled in the gap while Ellen took a break from the spotlight. Whether Haddish or anyone else knew it at the time, she was interviewing. According to Hollywood Life, Tiffany wowed the bosses at NBC Universal so with Ellen stepping down due to the show no longer being a “challenge”. It only makes sense that Tiffany’s name would be thrown around. She like Ellen, comes from a standup background. Her “she ready” catch phrase has not only gone viral but to some dismay highly overused. She is quirky, outspoken, and appeals to both sides of the isle being loved universally. Haddish has already made a home at CBS, currently hosting Kids Say the Darndest Things. With the reboot returning for a season 2. Haddish’s charisma and likeability with the children on the show also helps her star power to shine at its brightest. Even CBS own Gayle King see’s Tiffany being a great replacement for DeGeneres.

Over the past 5 years, Tiffany Haddish has stormed Hollywood. Not only staying in her lane but also creating new lanes for herself and pathing the way for others. For the girl from South Central Los Angeles who endured abuse from her mother and become the primary caregiver of her siblings at age 9 and spent a few years in foster care, Haddish is truly inspirational. For someone who arguably had an upbringing that was nothing to laugh about, Tiffany continues to not only make us laugh but also keeps us coming back for more.
