ATLANTA – The last weekend in June (25th -28th) is going to be honorable, educational, motivational, and memorable! Urban Not Average, a nonprofit headquartered in Los Angeles, California is hosting their very first National event, “The Urban Link Up” sponsored by the James Smiles Foundation in their new city and state of operation, Atlanta, Georgia! For this event Urban Not Average will be flying out and accommodating 20 student athletes nationwide to participate in and experience a weekend that will play a substantial part in their athletic journey.
Urban Not Average’s initiative is to improve the lives of student athletes, entrepreneurs and artists worldwide residing in urban communities through finances, housing, education, and mentorship. Urban Not Average believes in taking action with urgency to raise public awareness about some of the most talented and overlooked children who have a bright future, but are financially pressed by today’s society. The Urban neighborhood has an illustrious reputation of birthing and molding many of the sports greats that we have grown to love and admire. Today, that same reputation is still in effect and Urban Not Average stands behind it firmly. — Did we mention that UNA is also founded by a Woman of Color??? For all parents, coaches, trainers, and teachers who have or know of a student athlete between the ages of 13-17, the nomination form is live and you can nominate your student athlete NOW! The Urban Link Up caters to the versatility and talents of all who are passionate about and looking to pursue successful futures in sports.
Former and current, professional athletes along with sports industry professionals and trainers will be in attendance for networking, information sessions, and sports training camp. Last, to show appreciation for a productive and eventful weekend, Urban Not Average will host an awards ceremony and brunch for the student athletes on that Sunday to give them the proper send off going home!
