WERK PRAY SLAY Part 1: The Inside Scoop

The 7th Annual WerkPraySlay, a weekend for winning women was held at the W hotel in Midtown Atlanta. On October 31st through November 3, 2019, the four day weekend brought together hundreds of millennial women from around the world. This women’s conference is an impactful, action driven, life-changing experience. WerkPraySlay ignites women to prioritize their lives and have a purpose-filled passion that they can monetize from. Since 2013, WerkPraySlay women’s conference has continued to grow to new magnitudes of excellence.

Koereyelle Dubose, CEO, and host of WerkSlayPray, her dream team of curators Lakia “LB” Brandenburg, The wife coach and MC, and Alicia Fitch the graphic designer and event planner created a comfortable space for women of color to experience empowerment, entrepreneurship, and self-care. WerkPraySlay set out on the mission to encourage women to push past their fears by aligning their passion with purpose and monetize from their hard work.

As this is the seventh year of WerkPraySlay, the number seven means completion. Koereyelle expressed the significance of the number seven for WerkPraySlay “It’s a moment of reflection! The vision we had originally just expanded and grown. I am proud that we have done what we set out to do!” Koeryelle vision to create a life-changing experience for every women who attends WerkPraySlay has grown to help women from all over the world. Koeryelle started with a 32k teaching salary and strategically that into a six-figure brand.

CEO of Brighter Ink Studios, Alicia Fitch activates her clients with branding and web design services. As the art director of “Werk” Magazine, Alicia has taken the same bright and powerful colors to plan and design the WerkPraySlay event and graphics. Alicia activates the WerkPraySlay event with interactive booths for the perfect WerkPraySlay photographs, the speakers’ stage ignited the audience with the word “WERK” in bold gold letters, the gifting suite, panel discussion, industry training, vendors, and Werkshops empowered women all weekend long to activate their business plans and goals.

As the managing editor of “Werk” magazine, LB has taken her momentum and amazement to keep the party going as the official MC of the WerkPraySlay weekend. LB explains that the WerkPraySlay weekend “empowers women to take their businesses to the next level!” Her advice to women leads back to what her husband advises her, he said: “It takes 15 years to become an overnight success!” LB expressed that after nine years of entrepreneurship, she realized that her husband is right! She explained that the progress of her growth aligns with where she is today.

WerkPraySlay women’s conference honored three powerful women at the “Boss’d Up, Now What” award breakfast. Honoree Mia Ray, CEO of Glamaholic Lifestyle sold out of her #TravelLikeAG travel duffel bags and totes in just four mins! Seven years of entrepreneurship and consistency lead to this boss move that generated six-figures of revenue for Mia. She expressed the gratitude for winning this award as exemplifying that the hard work and dedication to her craft and brand hasn’t gone unnoticed. Mia recognized her purpose as she explained, “When I started my blog and my readers would say they’ve tried things that I have suggested, or they were interested in getting more tips from me and they were very in tune and connected with me, I think that was my aha moment.”

Profound author, marketing coach, and TEDx speaker Lucinda Cross-Otiti was an honoree at the awards breakfast. She has been seen on NBC, CNN, BET, Dr. Oz, and featured in Essence Magazine. She’s the founder of Activate Your Life 501c3 non-profit organization. Lucinda empowered women to execute their goals by designing vision boards. “Out of frustration, I wanted women to get into a spaced where they were supported!” She expressed, “I wanted to force women to leave with something, not just a selfie.”

Amongst the honorees, some phenomenal speakers have taken entrepreneurship to the next level. Copywriter Apryl Beverly spoke on the topic of how to craft conversational content that creates coins during the conference. Apryl expressed that she realized she wanted to make her own rules after she birthed her son. She expressed,” I did not want to ask another adult permission to spend time with my son. Its been eight years, it has had its ups and downs but I’ve found my footing. I’ve collaborated with some incredible women!”

How to create an uncloned brand with business and branding coach, Audria Richmond set out to enrich women entrepreneurs to be embrace being unique within their businesses. Audria’s words of advice are encouraging women “to embrace quitting and sometimes we need to quit something to rebirth something!” Audria’s words of wisdom explains how entrepreneurs can embrace growth and turning their L’s into lessons, not losses…
